This year the second graders will be preparing for the sacrament of reconciliation in the fall. First Communion preparation will take place as usual for the spring. The Archdiocese has asked all parishes to work towards preparing for the reception of reconciliation before the preparation of First Communion takes place. Fourth Grade will begin preparing for this sacrament in the Spring. Below are the dates for the First Reconciliation preparation for second grade and fourth grade for 2007-2008.
First Reconciliation Preparation Information:
Two types of retreats:
Traditional Retreat: A morning full of crafts, games, role-plays and songs for the children in the school. The parents receive encouraging words from a guest speaker in the Meyer Center. Following the activites, parents and children come together to tour the church.
Family Retreat: This is recommended for families preparing more than one child for Reconciliation. The whole family comes together and participates in activities and discussions about forgiveness. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated in the church immediately following the retreat activities.
