Updates from Worship Commission:
New Mass Offering Policy:
The deep faith and charity of parishioners of St. Susanna are manifested in the numerous Mass offerings you donate to the parish, especially for your beloved dead. For some time now, this abundance has created something of a problem. Multiple requests for Mass intentions far exceed the number of Masses that can be offered.
You are part of a parish that has over 4200 registered households. Our daily mass offerings are backlogged. You may have experienced this if you have come to the office to arrange a Mass offering only to find out that the next available Mass is several months out. At this time, we are booking intentions well into 2017.
Canon 956 of the Code of Canon Law in the Catholic Church states: Any mass obligations which have not been satisfied within a year after they have been accepted must be transmitted to the Ordinary…or in our case to the Missionaries via the Chancery Office of the Archdiocese.
Beginning August, 2016, the following guidelines will be followed at St. Susanna:
We appreciate your understanding as we continue to strive to minister to all the parishioners at St. Susanna.
Mass Offerings:
The names of those who gave the offering for a specific mass intention are no longer being listed in the bulletin. The focus should be on the glorification of the person listed in the intention and God’s grace at work in them not the glorification of the person giving the donation.
